Departing from the Retreat, you’ll travel by chauffeur-driven sedan to Gljúfrasteinn, the home of Nobel Prize-winning author Halldór Laxness. Converted into a museum in 2004, Gljúfrasteinn remains unchanged from the days when Laxness was a resident. After exploring Gljúfrasteinn, you’ll take a leisurely hike along the river Kaldakvísl to the entrancing Helgufoss waterfall for a picnic prepared by the Retreat’s culinary team. Laxness often traveled this route seeking inspiration, which is why it has become known as the Poet’s Path.
Available May 1 to September 30.
