Captivating, engaging, charismatic—Sævar Helgi Bragason, better known as Stjörnu (‘Star’) Sævar, combines science and mythology as he shares his infectious passion for the wonders of the universe.
The tour begins in the Retreat lounge or at Silica Hotel with an introduction to Iceland’s night sky followed by an interactive meteor presentation where you’ll handle meteorites from the Moon, Mars, and elsewhere, discovering the extraordinary story of each precious space rock. Weather permitting, Sævar will take you to gaze through a high-powered telescope. From this unique vantage point, you’ll explore the Moon, the planets, star clusters, nebulae, and distant galaxies. With luck on your side, the Northern Lights will materialize, transforming the heavens into a mesmerizing auroral vision.
Bookable upon request.
Available from September 30 to April 15.
If the weather is not favorable for stargazing, the tour will remain indoors.
Champagne available as an add-on.
“Come quickly, I am tasting the stars!”
This famous quote is attributed to Dom Pérignon, who called out to his fellow monks upon sampling his first batch of bubbly.
If you would also like to taste the stars as Stjörnu Sævar covers the wonders of the Arctic cosmos, you can add a glass of Dom Pérignon to the tour.
